Description:  North East, PA is located in the far northwest corner of Pennsylvania. The name North East seems to
be a misnomer since the borough is located in extreme northwestern Pennsylvania, but it is so named for its
northeastern-most location within Erie County, Pennsylvania. The GPS location above is the location of the Lakeshore
Railway Museum in North East, on the grounds of the former New York Central Railroad passenger depot. The grounds
have benches and tables and are available 24/7 to visitors. A scanner broadcasts action through speakers at the
platform. The museum is next to the CSX Erie West Sub, which is right in front of the property. On the other side
of the CSX tracks is the Norfolk Southern NW Sub, The same line which runs from Buffalo, NY to Conneaut, OH. The
museum has a nice collection of railroad equipment, with several passenger cars in different stages of restoration. They
have a GE U25B, New York Central #2500. Norfolk Southern donated Dash 8-32B #3563

Approximate # trains per 24 hours: 75+ including Amtrak’s Lakeshore Limited

Nearby RR Stuff: Nearby is Bort Road, N 42.22873, W 79.78754 which is off of I-90 and about a quarter mile
drive. An old wooden trestle goes over the CSX line, and there is an at-grade Norfolk Southern crossing. Even though
it is rare, it is possible to catch a three way meet here.  About 8 miles west of North East, PA, in Harborcreek, PA
there is a small roadside park on US-20 with parking and picnic table and good views of The NS and CXS mains.
