Description: Marceline, MO is located in north-central Missouri on the BNSF Transcon at mile post 347.3.  The town
of Marceline was created by the Atchison, Topeka and Santa FE Railroad as division point between Kansas City and
Fort Madison, IA.  Marceline has an Iconic 2 story Santa Fe Rail Station, but no longer sees passenger service.

Approximate # trains per 24 hours: 50+ including Amtrak’s Southwest Chief

Nearby RR stuff: In the city park about 1 block to the west of the station are two static displays – A Santa Fe
Caboose, and an older unrestored 2-8-0 Consolidation Steam engine #2546.

Other Interesting or fun stuff: Marceline was the boyhood home of Walt Disney and there is a museum containing
Disney memorabilia located in part of the rail station. Walt Disney began his lifelong love affair with trains here and so
perhaps it is the reason that the Disney Theme parks feature railroads so prominently.

Local Restaurant: Macvics Cafe (Cafe Marceline ?) 122 N Kansas Ave. (N 39.71467, W 92.95096)

Local Fast Food: Sonic Drive In, 1510 N Missouri Ave (39.72812, W 92.94197); Goodcents Deli (across the road
from Sonic)

Lodging: The Lamplighter Motel, 126 W Ira St. (N 39.72846, W 92.94271)

Personal observations: Marceline is OK but the same trains may be seen at La Plata, MO or anywhere along the
BNSF Transcon.
